In a significant shift in the nation's economic landscape, port magnate Enrique Razon Jr has been recognized as the richest person in the Philippines, according to the recently released Forbes Billionaires' List. Razon now holds the 175th position globally, marking a notable ascent in the rankings.
Wealth and Global Standing
Razon's total net worth is estimated at an impressive $16.5 billion, propelling him ahead of other prominent Filipino tycoons. This development sees him surpassing figures such as Ramon Ang, Lucio Tan, and Manny Villar, who previously led the Philippines' list in 2025. The 2026 Forbes list features a record 3,428 entries, an increase of over 400 from the previous year, reflecting a growing global billionaire population.
Global Billionaire Trends and Filipino Representation
The combined wealth of all 3,428 billionaires on the list totals a staggering $20.1 trillion, up by $4 trillion from 2025. At the global pinnacle, Elon Musk retains his title as the world's wealthiest person with a net worth of $839 billion, followed by Google founder Larry Page at $257 billion and Sergey Brin at $237 billion.
In total, 15 Filipinos have secured places on this prestigious list, showcasing the nation's economic diversity and entrepreneurial success. Key entries include:
- Ramon Ang, 72, ranked 1,189th with $3.6 billion.
- Lucio Tan, 91, at 1,223rd with $3.5 billion.
- Manny Villar, 76, at 1,376th with $3.1 billion.
Other notable Filipino billionaires feature in the rankings, such as members of the Sy family and Tony Tan Caktiong, founder of Jollibee, who holds the 3,285th position with $1.1 billion.
