DPWH Chief Dizon Disappointed with Slow Flood Control Project at UP-PGH
DPWH Chief Dizon Slams Slow Flood Control Project at UP-PGH

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon expressed dismay over the slow progress of the flood control project at the University of the Philippines–Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) in Ermita, Manila.

In a Facebook post by the DPWH on Wednesday, June 17, it was revealed that only 16% of the project has been completed despite its start in December 2024.

“We are talking about a hospital here. This PGH is very important. You have seen how many people come here every day,” Dizon stated.

He added that the immediate completion of the project is crucial as the rainy season approaches. “The rainy season is coming again. This again. It will flood here again. As the President said, our people deserve better than this,” the DPWH chief said.

It was also discovered that the joint venture contractor of the project is reportedly linked to the brother of former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co.

“So that’s why. If this is not delivered by June, cancel it,” Dizon responded angrily.

Aside from the flood control project, Dizon also inspected other pending constructions within PGH to ensure the safety of patients and workers.
