Focus on Leadership Domains and Professional Development

Dr. Misael G. Borgonia, Chief Education Supervisor of the HRDD and National Educators Academy of the Philippines in the Region (NEAP-R) Focal Person, emphasized the event's primary objectives. "The capability building was carefully planned not only to assist and prepare Nash takers but also to support their growth as effective and principled school managers," Borgonia stated. "While it is essential for them to understand the five domains as school heads, our overall goal is to strengthen the capacity of aspiring school heads to lead with competence, integrity, and a strong sense of moral responsibility."

The sessions delved into the five domains of the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH), which serve as the framework adopted by the Department of Education. Expert speakers from DepEd Region VII covered each domain in detail:

  • Dr. Misael G. Borgonia instructed on Domain 1: Leading Strategically.
  • Dr. Merden L. Bryant, Chief Education Program Supervisor of FTAD, discussed Domain 2: Managing School Operations and Resources.
  • Dr. Reynaldo D. Anto, Education Program Supervisor of HRDD, analyzed Domain 3: Focusing on Teaching and Learning.
  • Dr. Benjamin D. Tiongzon, Chief Education Supervisor of QAD, elaborated on Domain 4: Developing Self and Others.
  • Dr. Sofronio D. Paragoso, Education Program Supervisor of QAD, taught Domain 5: Building Connections.

Positive Feedback and Closing Ceremonies

Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity, with Irene C. Mutia, a Teacher III from Pilar National High School in Camotes, Cebu, highlighting the event's impact. "I am very thankful to DepEd Region 7 for giving us the chance to attend this capacity building, which is a great help for me as a first-time Nash taker this March 29, 2026," Mutia shared. "I learned a lot about the five domains of the PPSSH."

The capability building concluded with a final orientation and instructions for teachers, also delivered by Dr. Borgonia, followed by the distribution of Certificates of Participation and Certificates of Appearance to all attendees.
