Dodgers' Ohtani and Mets' Soto Headline National League's Best Hitters

Major League Baseball unveiled the recipients of the prestigious 2025 Silver Slugger Awards for the National League on Thursday, November 6, which was Friday, November 7, in Philippine Standard Time. The list was crowned by two of the sport's biggest stars: Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Juan Soto of the New York Mets. This marks the fourth Silver Slugger honor for Ohtani and the sixth for Soto, further cementing their legacies as elite offensive players.

The awards, voted on by MLB managers and coaches, recognize the most outstanding offensive performers at each position, including three outfielders and one utility player. This year's class of winners was notable for featuring five first-time honorees from seven different clubs. Adding to the team accolades, the Los Angeles Dodgers were named the National League Offensive Team of the Year for the second season in a row.

Dominant Seasons for Superstar Winners

While he didn't replicate his historic 50-50 campaign from the previous year, Shohei Ohtani still delivered a season of sheer dominance, making him the likely MVP. The Dodgers' two-way phenomenon set a new franchise record by blasting 55 home runs. He also led the entire major leagues with 146 runs scored and topped the National League in OPS (1.014), slugging percentage (.622), and total bases (380).

In his debut season with the New York Mets, Juan Soto continued to demonstrate why he is one of the most consistent hitters in the game. Soto launched a career-high 43 home runs, drew an MLB-best 127 walks, and led the NL with a .396 on-base percentage. At just 26 years old, Soto has now won a Silver Slugger Award with four different teams: the Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, and Mets.

First-Time Honorees and Repeat Winners

The awards ceremony also celebrated several players earning their first Silver Slugger recognition. Pete Alonso of the Mets secured his first award at first base after a powerful season with 38 homers and 126 RBIs.

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo turned his breakout year into his first Silver Slugger, achieving 20 home runs, 100 RBIs, and 27 stolen bases. His teammate, outfielder Corbin Carroll, also joined the first-time winners club by entering the 30-30 club with 31 home runs and 32 steals.

In a historic moment for the franchise, rookie catcher Hunter Goodman of the Colorado Rockies became the first catcher in team history to win a Silver Slugger after hitting 31 home runs.

The list also featured familiar faces, with Ketel Marte of the Diamondbacks repeating as the winner at second base and Manny Machado of the Padres claiming his second straight honor at third base. Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker earned his second career award after another 20-20 season, and Alec Burleson of the St. Louis Cardinals was named the league's top utility player.

The baseball world now awaits the announcement of the American League Silver Slugger winners, which will be revealed on Friday (Saturday in the Philippines).
