Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray shared a heartfelt message on Friday, June 12, as the Philippines commemorated its 128th Independence Day. In a Facebook post, Gray expressed her love for the country despite the challenges and issues it faces.
Gray Admits Disappointment
“Sometimes it’s tiring. It’s also disappointing,” Gray said. However, the beauty queen emphasized that she continues to choose to love the Philippines because she believes the nation can still improve. “But despite everything, we still choose to love the Philippines. Not because it is flawless, but because we believe we can become better as a country,” she added.
Hope for True Freedom
Gray also shared her wish that one day, true freedom will be experienced by all Filipinos and not just celebrated on Independence Day. “I hope the time comes when freedom is not only celebrated every June 12 but is felt by every Filipino — free from hunger, fear, and injustice,” the beauty queen stated.
She concluded her message with a call to remain hopeful despite the trials the country faces. “Until then, let’s keep going. Hope continues. Happy Independence Day, Philippines,” Gray said.
