Veteran actress Hilda Koronel has openly declared that she is perfectly content with being single at this stage of her life, firmly stating she has no intentions of entering another relationship. At 69 years old, the acclaimed performer shared her candid thoughts in a recent interview, emphasizing her weariness after multiple marriages.
Exhaustion from Past Roles
In the interview with Pep.ph, Koronel expressed her fatigue, saying, "Don't get me wrong. But after so many husbands, I'm done. Napagod na ako." She elaborated on the domestic responsibilities that came with those relationships, adding, "Ayoko nang magluto uli, di ba? Parang iyong role na iyon — magluluto ka, maggo-grocery ako, magpaplantsa ako. Tama na iyon!" This highlights her desire to move beyond traditional roles and focus on her personal freedom.
Focus on Career and Family
Koronel recently returned to the Philippines for her comeback film "Sisa," a historical thriller drama that also stars Eugene Domingo and Jennica Garcia, directed by Jun Robles Lana. This marks a significant return to the spotlight for the actress, who has been away from the local film scene for some time.
On the personal front, Koronel's husband Ralph Moore passed away in 2023, and the couple had no children together. According to records, she has three children with her first husband, actor Jay Ilagan, who died in a motorcycle accident in 1992, and three other children from past relationships. Despite this family background, she remains steadfast in her decision to stay single.
No Interest in Suitors
When questioned about whether she still receives suitors, Koronel responded emphatically: "Never mind! I don't care! Tapos na ako. Ayoko na. I'm done." This strong statement underscores her resolve to embrace solitude and independence, prioritizing her own well-being and career over romantic pursuits.
Her outlook reflects a broader trend of individuals finding fulfillment outside of traditional relationship structures, especially later in life. Koronel's honesty and clarity serve as an inspiration for others navigating similar paths.
