Jack Argota Admits to Fake Marcos Medical Records

Social media personality Jack Argota has publicly admitted to sharing fabricated medical records of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. online, issuing an apology and stating he merely copied other personalities who had disseminated the same false documents.

NBI Investigation and Subpoena Compliance

On Wednesday, February 18, Argota appeared alone before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)–Cybercrime Division to respond to a subpoena and explain the incident. According to NBI Director Lito Magno, Argota honored the subpoena and provided a statement. "He honored the subpoena issued to him. He gave a statement. It is still under investigation," Magno stated.

Separate Cyberlibel Complaints Filed

Previously, the NBI announced it had filed a cyberlibel complaint against Jay Sonza and Eric Celiz for allegedly spreading the fake medical records. The agency confirmed the complaint was lodged with the prosecutor's office. Magno clarified that the investigation into Argota's case is separate from these proceedings.

Argota's Public Apology and Gratitude

In a video uploaded to social media, Argota expressed gratitude to Director Magno and NBI officials. "Thank you very much, NBI Director Magno, for understanding what I am fighting for. I apologize for the inconvenience... guys, the NBI is not an enemy. They are just following orders, so don't think badly of them," Argota said.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the hearing's outcome, but the investigation is expected to continue in the coming days.
