The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) issued a maritime safety advisory on July 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, reporting that 62 ports across the country were affected by adverse weather conditions. A total of 957 passengers, truck drivers, and cargo helpers were stranded, along with 242 rolling cargoes, 13 vessels, and 33 motor bancas. Meanwhile, 168 vessels and 154 motor bancas temporarily took shelter to avoid danger.
Southern Tagalog ports hardest hit
In Southern Tagalog, major ports including Real, Jomalig, Dinahican, Panukulan, Lucena, Alabat, San Andres, Bulalacao, Roxas, Concepcion, Pola, Romblon, San Agustin, Looc, Batangas, Bauan, Balayan, Lemery, Anilao, Tingloy, and Balanacan recorded 316 stranded passengers and 30 rolling cargoes. Additionally, 111 vessels and 120 motor bancas sought shelter in the region.
Other affected regions
In North Western Luzon, ports in Agoo, Lingayen Gulf, Sual, Magsaysay, Salomague, Onri, Pasuquin, and Laoag reported 20 vessels taking shelter. In Southern Visayas, Sibulan and Maria ports had 9 stranded rolling cargoes and one vessel seeking shelter. In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Bongao Pier stranded 130 passengers and one vessel.
In Palawan, ports in Cuyo, Coron, and El Nido stranded 64 passengers and four vessels. In North Eastern Luzon, Mahatao Shelter Port had 14 motor bancas taking shelter. In Central Visayas, ports in Polambato, Daanbantayan, Mainit, Taloot, Talibon, Ubay, Popo, Mabini, Cogtong Bay, Tapal, Hagutapay, Pilar, and Poro recorded 94 stranded passengers, 97 rolling cargoes, six vessels, and 30 motor bancas, while 18 vessels and 17 motor bancas sought shelter.
In Western Visayas, Caticlan Jetty Port, Port Parola, and Cop Lapuz stranded 261 passengers and 95 rolling cargoes, with five vessels and one motor banca taking shelter. In Bicol, ports in Pasacao, Mobo, Cataingan, Mintac, Aroroy, San Pascual, San Jacinto, Monreal, San Fernando, and Lagundi stranded 92 passengers, 11 rolling cargoes, two vessels, and three motor bancas, while 13 vessels and two motor bancas sought shelter.
PCG urges caution
The PCG advised all seafarers and passengers to remain vigilant and prioritize safety as the weather conditions continue to pose risks. The advisory remains in effect until further notice, with authorities monitoring the situation closely.
