DOJ Prosecutors Not Convinced Senate Was Under Attack

The Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary, Atty. Fredderick Vida, has released some preliminary results of the investigation conducted by the Special Panel of Prosecutors regarding the events that transpired at the Senate. According to the prosecution's initial findings, the Senate or its building was not under attack on the evening of May 13. Furthermore, the actions taken by the Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms during the shooting incident were deemed unacceptable by the prosecution.

Contradicting Senator Cayetano's Claims

These findings contradict recent statements made by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, who maintained that the Upper House of Congress, or the Senate, was under attack. The DOJ's assessment suggests otherwise, casting doubt on the narrative presented by the senator.

Warning to Those Who Aided Senator Bato Dela Rosa

The DOJ also issued a warning to individuals who assisted Senator Bato Dela Rosa in escaping, stating that they will be held accountable by the department. This development comes after the sealed arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the lawmaker was made public. The warrant is related to his role as a co-perpetrator in the crimes against humanity case involving former President Rodrigo Duterte.
