A man died after being struck by a Nissan Urvan while crossing the National Highway in Barangay Tinaan, Naga City on Tuesday night, June 16, 2026.
Victim identified
The victim was identified as Jesusito Fabre Zabate, of legal age, a resident of Purok Caimito, Barangay Guimbawian, Pinamungajan town. Due to the force of the impact, Zabate sustained severe head injuries and multiple body trauma, which caused his death.
Driver details
The driver of the van was identified as Melbert Woo Aquino, 58, married, and a resident of Sunrise Village, Barangay Pardo, Cebu City.
According to the investigation by the Naga City Police Station, the vehicle was traveling towards Cebu City when the victim suddenly crossed the highway, leaving the driver unable to avoid the collision.
The driver, Aquino, is currently detained at the Naga Police Station while appropriate charges are being prepared against him.
