Mindanao Quake Death Toll Revised Down to 76, Missing Rise to 32

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has revised the death toll from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao, lowering it from 78 to 76 fatalities as of Friday, June 19. This adjustment follows ongoing validation of casualty data.

Missing Persons Rise

Meanwhile, the number of individuals still missing has increased to 32, more than a week after the powerful quake. Over 1.45 million people in Mindanao remain affected.

Displacement and Evacuation

Currently, more than 84,000 individuals are displaced, with over 21,000 staying in 46 evacuation centers. Another 63,000 are temporarily sheltered with relatives or friends.

Infrastructure Damage

The earthquake caused an estimated P1.35 billion in damage to the infrastructure sector. Government relief operations are ongoing without interruption.

International Aid

Eight countries have offered international humanitarian assistance to support recovery efforts for those affected by the earthquake.
