The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has lifted all storm signals after Typhoon Bavi (formerly known as Inday) exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday afternoon, July 11, 2026.
Typhoon Bavi's Location and Strength
As of 4:00 PM, the center of Typhoon Bavi was estimated at 680 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes. It packed maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching up to 170 kilometers per hour. The typhoon was moving northwestward at a speed of 40 kilometers per hour.
Southwest Monsoon Continues to Affect the Country
Although the typhoon is no longer within PAR, the Southwest Monsoon, locally known as Habagat, continues to bring rain over several areas in Luzon. Affected regions include Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, where scattered rains and possible flash floods or landslides in low-lying areas are expected.
Government agencies remain on alert to ensure public safety, especially in coastal areas and seaports that may be affected by the inclement weather. Fisherfolk and small boat operators are advised to take precautionary measures against rough seas.
