Tropical Storm Francisco May Enter PH This Weekend

A tropical storm is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this weekend, according to state weather forecasters. The low pressure area (LPA) east of the country has intensified into a tropical storm, located 2,110 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.

Storm Details

The storm packs maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour. Once inside PAR, it will be locally named “Francisco.”

Although the chance of landfall is low, the storm may enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat), bringing moderate to heavy rains over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.
