A 74-year-old woman was found dead on the shoreline of Purok 1, Sityo Canumay, Barangay Labogon, Mandaue City at 7:28 a.m. on June 9, 2026.
Victim Identified
The victim was identified as Emilita Manatad Piscador, a resident of Sityo Canumay. She was last seen alive at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026.
Possible Drowning
According to information provided by Police Lieutenant Colonel Mercy Villaro-Kantuna of the Mandaue City Police Office, the family believes the victim may have drowned. Piscador often gathered shellfish along the beach despite not knowing how to swim.
The body was discovered by a resident, prompting authorities to respond. Scene processing was conducted in coordination with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team.
Following the investigation, the victim's body was brought to a funeral home while authorities await further results to determine the exact cause of death.
