Local authorities in Bogo City have confirmed that no major structural damage or significant incidents occurred after a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck the area on Monday, April 6, 2026. In a phone interview with SunStar Cebu, Bogo City Assistant Commandant Joseph Mark Monleon highlighted the psychological impact on the community. He stated that many residents are experiencing trauma, as this marks the second earthquake to hit the city since last year. Monleon explained, "Many are already traumatized because this is the second time we’ve experienced an earthquake since last year." The authorities received numerous reports from individuals who were alarmed by the quake, with at least three residents particularly affected by the event.

As a safety measure, several large establishments, including popular fast-food chains, temporarily suspended operations following the earthquake. Monleon noted that these closures were precautionary and aimed at ensuring public safety.
