Classes in various parts of the Philippines were suspended on Saturday, July 11, 2026, due to adverse weather brought by Typhoon Inday and the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat). Local government units (LGUs) announced the cancellation of classes in both public and private schools across multiple areas.
Areas with Full Class Suspension
The following municipalities and cities declared no classes at all levels: Laguna (all levels, public and private), Tanza in Cavite (all levels, public and private), Dagupan City in Pangasinan (all levels, public and private), and the City of Dasmariñas in Cavite (all levels, public and private).
Areas with Suspension of Face-to-Face Classes
Some LGUs opted to suspend only face-to-face classes while allowing online learning to proceed. These include Caloocan City, Naic in Cavite, and Malabon City (all levels, public and private). In Manila City, face-to-face classes were canceled for all college and postgraduate levels. Marikina City went further by suspending both face-to-face and online classes in public and private schools.
According to Bombo John Flores, the announcements were made by the respective local governments as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) earlier warned of heavy rainfall, strong winds, and possible flooding in affected areas due to Typhoon Inday and the enhanced habagat.
Advisory for Students and Parents
Students, parents, and teachers are advised to stay updated on further announcements from their local government units and schools regarding possible additional suspensions or schedule changes. The public is urged to monitor weather bulletins and heed safety precautions as the weather system continues to affect the country.
