DSWD Mobilizes Kitchen to Aid Typhoon-Affected Families in Cebu

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7 in Central Visayas has launched a crucial Mobile Kitchen operation to provide immediate relief to families impacted by the recent Typhoon Tino. This initiative, carried out on November 10, 2025, brought hot, freshly cooked meals to hundreds seeking shelter.

Hot Meals for Hundreds in Liloan Evacuation Center

The operation was centered at the Panphil B. Frasco Memorial Sports Complex in Liloan, Cebu, which served as a temporary home for many displaced by the storm. More than 464 internally displaced persons (IDPs) currently residing at the evacuation center were the direct beneficiaries of this program. The DSWD team worked diligently to ensure these families received nutritious, warm food during a difficult time.

A Coordinated Culinary Effort

Preparations for the meals took place at the San Fernando El Rey Parish Church. Volunteers and DSWD personnel prepared a menu designed to be both comforting and nourishing. The evacuees were served meals including sardinas with egg, tuna mixed with vegetables, and scrambled eggs. This effort is a core part of the DSWD's emergency response program, designed to offer instant sustenance in disaster-affected areas where cooking facilities are often unavailable.

Through this coordinated action, the DSWD demonstrates its commitment to public service and embodies its community-focused principle that "Bawat Buhay, Mahalaga sa DSWD" (Every Life is Precious to the DSWD). The Mobile Kitchen initiative stands as a testament to the government's proactive steps in mitigating the effects of natural calamities on vulnerable communities.
