Lapu-Lapu Pharmacy Fire: P200k Damage, Electrical Cause Suspected

Early Morning Fire Damages Lapu-Lapu City Pharmacy

A fire broke out in the upper portion of a pharmacy located on Z. Rizal Street in Barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City, early on Monday morning, November 17, 2025. Initial investigations by the local fire department suggest that the blaze may have originated from an electrical failure.

Fire Response and Investigation Details

According to FO1 Vincent Rhey Reyes of the Lapu-Lapu Fire District, the fire started in the upper area above the pharmacy. Fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time the fire ignited, although the electricity was connected and running. The fire alarm was raised at 7:09 a.m., and firefighters managed to declare the blaze under control by 7:38 a.m. It was fully extinguished by 7:44 a.m.

Fire investigators are currently focusing on old or faulty wiring as the probable cause of the incident, though the official probe is still ongoing to confirm the exact origin.

Property Damage and a Separate Incident

The fire impacted two establishments: the pharmacy and a bakery situated on the lower floor. The initial assessment indicates that the upper floor sustained the most damage, while the ground floor remained largely intact. The estimated cost of the damage is currently pegged at P200,000, but this figure may be adjusted pending insurance processing and the filing of an affidavit of loss.

No injuries or casualties were reported from this incident. In a separate fire event early Monday, an unattended kerosene lamp caused a residential fire that burned down a single home in Sitio Marbeach, Barangay Marigondon. That fire was also extinguished without any reported injuries.
