A magnitude 5.3 earthquake shook the waters off the southeastern coast of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental early Friday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). The tremor was recorded at around 12:34 a.m., with a tectonic origin and a depth of approximately 10 kilometers.

The earthquake was felt at various intensities across several areas:
- Intensity III – Malungon, Sarangani
- Intensity II – City of Digos, Davao Del Sur; Santa Maria, Davao Oriental; Malapatan, Sarangani
- Intensity I – Matanao, Davao Del Sur; Tupi, South Cotabato
No Damage Expected
According to PHIVOLCS, no damage is expected from the earthquake. However, aftershocks may still occur in the coming hours or days. The public is reminded to remain alert and follow advisories from authorities in case of subsequent tremors.
