Tragic Fire Claims Life of Toddler in Argao, Cebu
A devastating fire swept through a home in Sitio Sibuyan, Barangay Upper Cansuje, Argao, Cebu, on Wednesday morning, June 17, 2026, claiming the life of a three-year-old child who was left unsupervised. The victim was identified as Niño Carillo.
The blaze started at around 8:30 a.m. inside the house owned by Zenas Carillo, 44, the child's mother. At the time, the parents were not at home, leaving the toddler alone.
According to FO3 Michael Angelo Rodriguez, fire investigator from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Argao, the fire likely began when the child was playing with a lighter. The flames quickly engulfed the structure, and neighbors were unable to rescue the child or contain the fire.

The Argao police are continuing their investigation into the incident. Authorities urge parents to never leave young children unattended, especially near potential fire hazards.
