A 19-year-old woman was injured after a large tree fell on their house in Sityo Kalubihan, Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City at around 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
Incident Details
The father, alias Roy, said they had just finished dinner when a large Eucalyptus tree fell towards their house. He managed to pull his daughter away, but she still suffered an injury to her left foot, likely from a sharp object or nail. His 11-year-old son was inside the room and was unharmed as he had just been circumcised.
"It's painful to think we're back to zero, but we are still thankful that we are complete," the father said.
Previous Requests Ignored
Roy stated that they had long requested the barangay to cut down the tree, but it was not acted upon because they needed a permit from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Residents believe the soil had softened due to continuous rain.
