The hot and humid weather condition in Cebu is expected to persist in the coming days, with the heat index in some parts of the country possibly reaching up to 39 degrees Celsius, according to the weather bureau. The province also remains under an El Niño alert.
Pagasa Forecast
In a phone interview on Monday, May 11, 2026, Jhomer Eclarino, chief forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa)-Visayas, said that generally fair weather will continue but with high humidity that makes the temperature feel even hotter.
Public Advisory
The public is advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, stay hydrated, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially from noon until afternoon.
Cebu recorded its highest heat index so far this season at 41 degrees Celsius on April 28. Pagasa-Visayas warned that this level of heat falls under the extreme caution category, where people may experience heat cramps and heat exhaustion if exposure to the heat continues.
Weather experts said isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are still possible due to localized thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon or evening. However, according to Eclarino, these will not provide relief from the ongoing dry conditions in many areas.
