Widespread Rains Expected Across Southern Philippines
The Philippine state weather bureau, PAGASA, announced on Saturday that the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is set to continue influencing weather patterns, bringing significant rainfall to large portions of the country. The forecast, issued in its 4 a.m. bulletin on November 14, 2025, indicates persistent rainy conditions for southern and central regions.
Affected Regions and Potential Hazards
The ITCZ will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Visayas, Mindanao, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, and the province of Quezon. Residents in these areas should remain vigilant as PAGASA has issued a specific warning regarding potential hazards.
The bureau cautioned that during periods of moderate to at times heavy rains, these conditions could trigger flash floods or landslides. This advisory is crucial for communities in hazard-prone areas to take necessary precautions.
Northern Luzon Impacted by Northeast Monsoon
Meanwhile, a different weather system is affecting the northern part of the archipelago. The northeast monsoon, locally known as Amihan, is bringing cloudy skies with light rains over the Cordillera region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora province.
The Ilocos Region will also experience the effects of the northeast monsoon, with forecasts predicting partly cloudy to cloudy skies accompanied by isolated light rains.
Weather Outlook for the Rest of the Country
For the remaining parts of the Philippines, the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy. However, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are still possible, primarily due to localized thunderstorms developing in the afternoon or evening.
In terms of wind and sea conditions, Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds leading to moderate to rough coastal waters. The rest of the archipelago can expect lighter wind conditions, with winds ranging from light to moderate and seas from slight to moderate, making maritime activities relatively safer in these zones.
