Lapu-Lapu City Returns to Normal After Typhoon Tino, Zero Casualties Reported
Lapu-Lapu Normalizes Operations After Typhoon Tino

Lapu-Lapu City government has successfully normalized operations following the weather threats brought by Typhoon Tino and subsequent rain, ensuring all essential commodities and services for the tourism and business sectors continue without disruption.

Emergency Operations Deactivated

In an advisory released on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from the mayor's office, the city government announced the deactivation of its Emergency Operations Center. This decision followed the recommendation of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC).

The city had been placed under white alert status on November 10 at 5:00 PM, marking a downgrade from the previous blue alert status and signaling a return to normal operations.

Mayor's Assurance of Public Safety

Mayor Ma. Cynthia "Cindi" Chan personally addressed media concerns, providing reassurance about public safety and tourism stability. This response came after stakeholders sought confirmation that visitors and upcoming activities in Lapu-Lapu City would proceed safely and without interruption.

Chan confirmed that no conventions were canceled due to the weather disturbances, attributing this success to the city's proactive early preparations. These measures resulted in zero casualties based on initial reports.

Critical Infrastructure Remains Operational

Despite challenges posed by consecutive typhoons, the city confirmed that essential utilities including power, water, and telecommunications continued functioning normally throughout the weather events.

Key infrastructure facilities maintained operations during the typhoons, including:

  • Mactan Cebu International Airport
  • Various seaports throughout the city
  • Bridges and major road networks

Authorities emphasized they will continue monitoring and preparing to ensure prompt response to any potential risks that may emerge, maintaining vigilance even as normal operations resume.
