Storm Fung-Wong Eases, PAGASA Downgrades Wind Signals
PAGASA Downgrades Wind Signals as Storm Eases

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has downgraded wind signals across multiple regions as severe tropical storm Fung-Wong, now named "Uwan," moves further away from the country.

Wind Signal Downgrades Across Multiple Regions

As of 5:00 PM on Friday, November 7, 2025, PAGASA announced the lowering of wind signals in several areas. Wind Signal Number 1 has been lifted from the southern portion of Quezon Province, eastern portion of Romblon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate.

In the Visayas region, the weather bureau also removed Wind Signal Number 1 from central and northern Cebu, along with Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, northern and northeastern Bohol, northern portion of Negros Occidental, northeastern portion of Capiz, and northeastern portion of Iloilo.

Storm Location and Intensity

The storm's center was located approximately 1,175 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas at 4:00 PM on Friday. Fung-Wong continues to pack maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour near its center, with gustiness reaching up to 135 km per hour.

Despite the downgraded wind signals, PAGASA forecasts that eastern Luzon and the Visayas regions will still experience moderate to heavy rainfall starting Saturday as the storm continues its movement.

Potential Super Typhoon Threat

Weather authorities have issued a concerning development regarding the storm's potential intensification. PAGASA indicates the storm could develop into a super typhoon by Sunday afternoon, November 9.

If this intensification occurs, the weather system is expected to bring very heavy rainfall to 16 provinces in Luzon, posing significant weather concerns for the northern part of the country.

In Mindanao, areas including Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte remain under Wind Signal Number 1 as the storm continues to move away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
