Shear Line Expected to Bring Widespread Rainfall Across Multiple Philippine Regions
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a weather bulletin forecasting that the shear line will bring significant rainfall over a large portion of the country. In its latest update released early Saturday morning, the state weather bureau warned residents to prepare for potentially hazardous conditions.
Affected Areas and Weather Conditions
According to PAGASA's 4 a.m. bulletin, the shear line is expected to cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms across several key regions. The affected areas include:
- The entire Visayas region
- Romblon province
- Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate in Luzon
- Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Camiguin, and Misamis Oriental in Mindanao
The weather agency specifically cautioned that moderate to heavy rains in these regions could lead to possible flash floods or landslides, urging residents to take necessary precautions.
Weather Patterns in Other Parts of the Country
Meanwhile, different weather systems will influence conditions in other areas of the archipelago. The rest of Mindanao is forecast to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, primarily due to localized thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, a pattern attributed to the prevailing northeast monsoon affecting these regions.
Wind and Sea Conditions
PAGASA also reported varying wind and sea conditions across different sections of the Philippines. Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are expected over:
- The northern and eastern sections of Luzon
- The entire Visayas region
- The eastern section of Mindanao
For the rest of the archipelago, conditions will be milder with light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas. Mariners and coastal communities are advised to remain vigilant given these forecasted conditions.
