Devotees and spectators of the Sinulog Festival on Sunday, January 18, can expect generally fair and warm weather. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Visayas reported a low chance of rain disrupting the major festivities.
Weather specialist Ana Dumdum stated that the entire province of Cebu, including Metro Cebu, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with only a slight probability of brief showers. She clarified that the light rains experienced in recent days were due to the tropical disturbance named "Ada" near Eastern Visayas.
Heat Index Reaches Extreme Caution Level
PAGASA has issued a heat advisory for the Sinulog day. The maximum heat index is forecast to reach the extreme caution category, ranging from 34 to 38 degrees Celsius, particularly during midday hours. The public is advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Winds will be moderate over northern Cebu and light to moderate in other parts of the province, including Cebu City. However, the weather bureau warned of possible localized thunderstorms in the afternoon due to intense heat that could trigger the formation of thick clouds.
Dumdum emphasized that any rainfall would likely be isolated and confined to specific areas, unless it develops into a severe thunderstorm.

The prevailing weather condition is expected to persist from Monday, January 19, until Wednesday, January 21. Residents can anticipate a continuation of sunny skies with occasional clouds during this period.
