Sinulog 2026 Weather: Sunny Skies, Extreme Heat Caution
Sunny Sinulog 2026 forecast with heat advisory

Sinulog Festival attendees in Cebu can look forward to predominantly fair weather during the main celebrations this Sunday, January 18, 2026. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has given a favorable outlook, indicating a low probability of rain disrupting the festivities.

Mostly Sunny Skies for the Grand Celebration

Weather specialist Ana Dumdum from Pagasa-Visayas stated that Cebu province, including Metro Cebu, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a low chance of rainfall. She clarified that the light rains felt in the area earlier were associated with the tropical disturbance named "Ada" near Eastern Visayas, which is no longer a significant factor for Cebu's weather on the festival day.

"From Sunday, the whole of Cebu, including Metro Cebu, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a low chance of rain," Dumdum explained in Cebuano. "This means we can expect mostly sunny conditions." Winds are forecast to be moderate over northern Cebu and light to moderate elsewhere, including Cebu City.

Heat Index Reaches 'Extreme Caution' Levels

While rain is unlikely, Pagasa has issued a critical heat advisory for Sinulog day. The heat index, or the perceived temperature, is projected to reach between 34 and 38 degrees Celsius, placing it in the "extreme caution" category, particularly around midday.

"This could pose risks, especially for Sinulog dancers and participants," Dumdum warned. She strongly advised everyone, from performers to spectators, to take necessary precautions such as staying hydrated and seeking shade when possible.

Isolated Thunderstorms and Extended Forecast

The state weather bureau also cautioned about the potential for isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. These could develop due to intense heat triggering convective cloud formation. Any resulting rainfall is expected to be localized and brief unless severe thunderstorms materialize.

The generally fair weather pattern is set to continue into the early part of the following week. From Monday, January 19, to Wednesday, January 21, Cebu can expect partly cloudy skies with continued sunny intervals, providing favorable conditions for post-festival activities and travel.
