In a major development that has surprised the boxing world, the long-awaited heavyweight showdown between British superstars Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury may not take place in Great Britain. According to a report from Boxingscene.com, the fight could be held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, USA.
Contract Signed, Venue Pending
The contract for the historic bout, scheduled for November 2026, has already been signed. However, the venue has yet to be finalized. British fans had hoped the fight would be held at Wembley Stadium in London, but organizers favor Southern California due to the cold weather in Britain during November, which complicates promotional preparations.
Promoter's Perspective
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn commented, "Of course the UK is a front-runner, but it is in November as well. We would all love the fight to take place in the UK. If it's in America, no problem, but I think they're the two likely countries."
Saudi Financier's Support
Saudi Arabian boxing financier Turki Alalshikh, who is funding the mega-event, also agreed that the Los Angeles market is the right destination for the fight.
