Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to engage in face-to-face talks as a new step toward ending the ongoing war. In an open letter addressed to the Russian leader, Zelensky emphasized that waiting for the conflict in Europe to regain the attention of the United States would be a mistake, stressing that peace can only be achieved through direct communication between Ukraine and Russia.
Proposed Venues and Ceasefire Demand
Zelensky suggested that the negotiations could take place in Switzerland or Turkey. He also called for a complete ceasefire throughout the proposed negotiations, a condition that Putin has previously rejected.
US President's Support
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump expressed his belief that a meeting between the two leaders would be beneficial and expressed hope that they could reach an agreement.
Kremlin Acknowledges Receipt
