Missing 90-Year-Old Found Dead in Dumanjug Bamboo Grove

After being missing for two days, a 90-year-old grandmother with mental disability was found dead inside a bamboo grove in Barangay Candabong, Dumanjug, on Thursday morning.

Victim Identified

The victim was identified as Dionesia Pasquil Riconalla, a resident of the same area. According to police records, on June 9, 2026, her relative Aurella Peras, 70, reported her missing after she failed to return home.

Discovery by Farmer

Roberto Caminade Relatebo, 60, a farmer in the barangay, discovered the victim. Relatebo said that while clearing and looking for bamboo, he was shocked to find a person lying face down, without clothes, and motionless.

Relatebo immediately informed Candabong Barangay Captain Rogelio Mayonila, who then called the Dumanjug Municipal Police Station for assistance.

Response and Declaration of Death

Responding police officers and personnel from the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of the town declared the grandmother dead.

It was learned from the family that the victim had long-standing mental issues, often wandering aimlessly.

Ongoing Investigation

Currently, doctors and town police are continuing their investigation to determine if there was foul play or the real cause of the victim's death.
