He added, "Time away and things that I had to experience along the way with teammates that no one other than my teammates would understand. I don't regret any of my decisions."

A Storied Career

Etheridge made his debut for the Philippines in 2008 and went on to earn over 80 caps, becoming one of the most recognizable figures in Philippine football. He played a key role in the team's historic qualification for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, the country's first appearance in the tournament.

His club career included stints with Fulham, Walsall, and Birmingham City in England, where he gained valuable experience before returning to Asia to play for clubs in Thailand and Malaysia.

Etheridge's retirement marks the end of a significant chapter for Philippine football, as he was a cornerstone of the national team's rise in Asian football over the past two decades.
