Parents Drop Case After Child's Death Settlement

The parents of a one-year-old boy who was run over by a Ceres bus along the National Highway in Barangay Bato, Samboan town have decided not to file charges against the bus driver after reaching an agreement with the bus company.

Agreement Reached

On June 2, 2026, the child's father, Fred Pajo, announced that the bus company had committed to covering all funeral expenses. "I am not blaming anyone. All I wanted was to give my son a proper burial," Pajo said.

Clarifying the Incident

Pajo also clarified that the mother did not lose her grip on the child when their motorcycle fell, contrary to initial reports. According to him, they were at the roadside waiting for the Ceres bus to pass before proceeding. However, the motorcycle lost balance, causing them to fall onto the road.

He stated that the mother was still holding the child, but the boy was run over by the bus tire. The child suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot.

Route Details

Pajo added that they regularly take that route from Negros, where his wife was born, heading back to their home in Compostela town.
