The Russian Ambassador to the Philippines, Marat Pavlov, visited Cebu to lead the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Philippines. The festivities included a wreath-laying ceremony at the sculpted bust of renowned Russian literary figure Leo Tolstoy, located at Museo Sugbo. Joining the ambassador were Russian Honorary Consul in Cebu Armi Garcia and Councilor Sisinio Andales, representing the Cebu government. The event was further enlivened by a vibrant performance from Russian artists.

At Museo Sugbo, the wreath-laying ceremony at the bust of Leo Tolstoy drew dignitaries including Russian Ambassador Marat Pavlov, Honorary Consul Armi Garcia, Provincial Board Member Malcolm Sanchez, Russian Deputy Minister Vyacheslav Manuylov, and Councilor Nyza Archival. The ceremony highlighted the enduring cultural and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
GFG Assessment and Training Center
Former Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia has shifted her focus to the GFG Assessment and Training Center (GFG-ATC), a technical-vocational training facility she established in coordination with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda). The center aims to empower individuals through skills development and livelihood opportunities. It offers courses such as Computer Systems Servicing NC II, Data Analytics Level III, Cyber Threat Monitoring Level I, and Content Creation (Social Media) Level III.
During a recent Recognition Ceremony at the center's premises in Oakridge IT Center II, over 100 trainees received Certificates of Completion. Special guests included Tesda Deputy Director General Undersecretary Vidal Villanueva III, Philippine Navy Lt. Commander Emmanuel Amores (chief of the Naval Cyber Warfare Group Central), and Tesda Provincial Director Carlitos Quintano.
Cebu Lighthouse Launch
The Cebu Lighthouse at Il Corso in the South Road Properties (SRP) was officially launched. Unlike traditional lighthouses that guide ships, this lighthouse serves as a hub of culture, creativity, and fun. It features an interactive journey through Cebu's maritime history, guided by Angel Anjo, and showcases the largest indoor mural by Urban Arts PH. The lighthouse is envisioned as a landmark for gatherings and memory-making.
Zonta Club Cebu II Installation
The Zonta Club of Cebu II held its installation of officers and board of directors for 2026–2028 at Casino Español. With a “dark blue denim” theme, the event was relaxed and festive. The new president is Dr. Maria Asunción “Chona” Del Prado-Tremedal. Celebrating its 45th year, the club remains committed to building a better world for women and girls.
