The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) announced that overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) can now apply for or renew their membership online, eliminating the need to visit Owwa offices.
Online Membership System Launched
In a social media post, Owwa stated, "Nasaan ka man sa mundo, maaari ka nang mag-apply o mag-renew ng iyong Owwa membership online. Hindi na kailangang pumunta sa opisina ng Owwa." The agency emphasized that the online application process is fully digital, including payment via GCash.
Payment and Convenience Fee
Owwa also highlighted a promotional period: "Mas magaan pa ang pagbabayad dahil maaari mong i-enjoy ang zero convenience fee para sa Owwa membership payments sa GCash mula April 16 hanggang July 16." This means OFWs can pay their membership fees without any additional charge during this period.
How to Apply
To avail of the online service, OFWs need to visit membership.owwa.gov.ph, fill out the application form, and upload copies of their passport and proof of employment. After submitting, they will receive a verification email from Owwa containing a Payment Reference Number (PRN). Using this PRN, they can pay via the GCash app. Once payment is confirmed, applicants will receive a confirmation email with a downloadable Acknowledgment Receipt, which serves as proof of active Owwa membership.
An Owwa membership is essential for OFWs as it confirms their registration with the agency, providing access to various benefits and assistance programs.
