A man who was previously beaten after being accused of stealing from trucks was shot in the head while sitting on a sidewalk in Cebu City on Monday afternoon, June 15, 2026.
Incident Details
The victim, Aljer Salem Tuyogan, 30, a resident of Sitio Silangan 2, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City, was sitting on the sidewalk along S. Osmeña Jr. Boulevard at around 3 p.m. when he was shot. The Waterfront Police Station 3 of the Cebu City Police Office received a call about an injured person and found Tuyogan with a bloodied face and a gunshot wound to the head.
Response and Investigation
Medical personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office rushed the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center. As of Monday afternoon, the shooter remains unidentified, but an investigation is ongoing. Tuyogan had previously been accused of stealing from trucks parked in the area, but CCTV footage confirmed he was not the thief, and he was likely falsely accused.
