The crash took place at the boundary between Barangay Habana and Barangay Gibon along the national highway. According to the Nabas Municipal Police Station, the elf truck was transporting approximately eighty boxes of fish, specifically isdang aloy, from Tibiao, Antique, with its intended destination being Metro Manila.

Initial police investigations indicate that the passenger van was traversing the roadway when the truck entered its lane. The truck reportedly experienced brake failure and an engine stall while navigating a downhill section of the road, leading directly to the collision.

Impact and Injuries

The force of the impact was severe, causing significant damage to the front ends of both vehicles. Among the injured were the driver of the elf truck and his assistant, as well as the driver of the van and fourteen passengers.

The van driver sustained particularly serious injuries, becoming trapped in his seat and suffering a fracture to his left leg. Several passengers also received severe wounds and were immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatment.
