Valentine's Day Tragedy: Elderly Couple Killed by Delivery Truck in Cebu City
A devastating accident on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2026, claimed the lives of an elderly couple in Cebu City. The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 PM along the South Road Properties in Barangay Mambaling, where a delivery truck struck the victims as they were crossing the road.
Victims Identified as Senior Citizens
The victims have been identified as Salvador Geraldizo Jr., 67, and his wife Cecilia Geraldizo, 68, both residents of Tupas Street in Barangay Sawang Calero, Cebu City. They were declared dead-on-arrival at the Cebu City Medical Center after emergency personnel rushed them to the hospital following the collision.
Driver in Custody Facing Serious Charges
The driver of the delivery truck, Charlie Alcontin, 38, from Sityo Sagay in Barangay Bonbon, Cebu City, is now in the custody of the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office. According to the police investigation, Alcontin was driving the truck with plate number GAW 1900 along the SRP when the couple suddenly crossed from the center island near Il Corso.
Alcontin reportedly stated that he saw the victims crossing but they turned back, leading to the collision. Due to the speed of the vehicle, the couple was thrown onto the concrete pavement, sustaining severe injuries that proved fatal. Authorities have filed a case of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Double Homicide against him.
