The accident happened at 7 p.m. on February 14, 2026. Police have identified the victims as Salvador Geraldizo Jr., 67, and Cecilia Geraldizo, 68. Both were residents of Tupas St., Barangay Sawang Calero. According to the Cebu City Police Office Traffic Enforcement Unit, the delivery truck was traveling in the middle lane toward the city center when the couple attempted to cross the road from the center island.

The driver involved is Charlie Alcontin, 38, from Sitio Sagay, Barangay Bonbon, Cebu City. He is currently in police custody. Alcontin told authorities that he saw the couple crossing but claimed they suddenly turned back, leading to the collision.

Aftermath and Legal Consequences

The impact of the truck threw the victims onto the pavement, causing severe injuries. Rescuers rushed Salvador and Cecilia to the Cebu City Medical Center, where doctors sadly declared them dead on arrival. The accident also resulted in heavy traffic congestion in the area, affecting other motorists.
