Tragic Motorcycle Accident in Dalaguete Claims Life of Female Rider

A devastating road accident resulted in the death of a female motorcycle rider in Dalaguete, Cebu, on Tuesday afternoon, February 24, 2026. The victim, identified as Shena Bornea Entia, a middle-aged resident of Barangay Manangal, was run over by a 10-wheeler dump truck along the National Highway in the same barangay.

Details of the Fatal Incident

According to police reports, the accident occurred when Entia was returning home from a market trip on her motorcycle. She was traveling ahead of a Howo 10-wheeler trailer truck driven by John Alaine Solibio Tañara, a 30-year-old from Brgy. Combado, Bacong City, Negros Oriental. Police Major Vincent Zozobrado, chief of the Dalaguete Police Station, stated that initial investigations revealed Entia activated her right turn signal light as she approached the accident site.

However, she suddenly swerved to the left without signaling, coinciding with an attempted overtake by the following truck. The impact was severe, causing Entia to be thrown from her motorcycle and subsequently run over by the rear wheel of the truck. She suffered fatal head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Following the accident, Tañara underwent an alcohol test, which returned negative for any intoxicating substances. Despite this, he has been detained at the Dalaguete Police Station and is facing charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide and Damage to Property. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, emphasizing the importance of proper signaling and safe driving practices on highways.
