Victim and Driver Identified

The deceased has been identified as Jose Marie Emmanuel Fortich, a 37-year-old resident of Barangay Lawaan 1, Dakbayan sa Talisay. He was riding as a passenger on the motorcycle at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Suzuki Smash motorcycle is Canamo Rexen Bentulan, also 37 years old, married, and a resident of Sityo Upper Cadicay, Barangay Lawaan 3. Bentulan survived the accident but sustained injuries.

According to initial investigations, the motorcycle was traveling toward the northern part of Cebu when it collided with a gutter on the side of the national highway. The impact caused severe damage to the vehicle and led to critical injuries for both individuals.

Both Fortich and Bentulan were rushed to Minglanilla District Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite efforts to save him, Fortich succumbed to his injuries, which included severe wounds to his face and head.
