LTO-NIR Moves to Revoke License in Negros Road Rage Case

The Land Transportation Office in Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) has taken a firm stance by recommending the revocation of the driver's license of a motorist implicated in a widely condemned road rage incident in Murcia, Negros Occidental. This administrative action follows a viral altercation that has sparked significant public outrage and calls for stricter enforcement of road safety measures.

Details of the Incident and Administrative Proceedings

On April 13, 2026, LTO-NIR served a copy of the resolution to the concerned individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City. The case originated from a violent altercation that occurred on March 8, 2026, along the National Highway in Barangay Salvacion, Murcia. According to Murcia Municipal Police Station records, the incident involved a car driven by a 67-year-old resident of Murcia and a motorcycle operated by the suspect, a resident of Silay City.

Investigations revealed that the motorcycle rider allegedly overtook the car, blocked its path, and then repeatedly punched the elderly driver, resulting in facial injuries. This aggressive behavior prompted swift action from authorities, with the LTO's recommendation for license revocation underscoring its mandate to ensure road safety and discipline among motorists, particularly in cases involving violence and reckless conduct.
