Tragedy Strikes in Talisay City: Young Father Killed in Street Race

A 19-year-old driver for a ride-hailing application was killed on the spot after engaging in a race with a friend in Sitio Uldog, Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City. The fatal incident occurred at approximately 1:00 AM on November 29, 2025.

The victim was identified as Cyrel Kent Mancia, 19, a resident of Mandaue City, Cebu, who lived with his partner and their two-year-old child.

The Fatal Crash and Police Report

According to the police report, Mancia was racing another motorcycle. In their attempt to overtake each other, Mancia lost control, hit a gutter, and was thrown from his vehicle. He sustained severe injuries to his face and head, which caused his immediate death. Authorities confirmed that the race allegedly involved a wager.

A Father's Heartbreaking Account

The victim's father recounted receiving a phone call informing him that his son had been in an accident. Upon arriving at the scene, he found his son already lifeless. He shared that Mancia had just eaten dinner at the 'pocherohan' where he worked at around 6:00 PM on November 28. Mancia had told his father he would return after his shift ended, as it was his son's habit to pick him up after work.

After his meal, Mancia went home, collected his helmet and his two-year-old child, and then proceeded to Talisay City, where the tragic event later unfolded.
