The historic roads of Negros witnessed a thrilling display of classic automotive prowess as the Tour de Cebu 2025 concluded, crowning the duo of Frank Vicoy and Nico Ornopia as its grand champions. The prestigious three-day, 1,000-kilometer sports car rally, held from December 4-6, 2025, solidified its status as the country's premier event for vintage automobile enthusiasts.
A Triumphant Drive Through Negros
Vicoy and Ornopia secured their top position after a dominant performance behind the wheel of their 1972 Porsche 914. The challenging route traversed the scenic and demanding landscapes of both Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental, testing the skill of the drivers and the endurance of their classic machines. Their victory was further honored with the distinguished Performance and Classics Enthusiasts (PACE) Chairman Class Award, a testament to their mastery throughout the competition.
Fierce Competition and International Flavor
The event showcased a remarkable gathering of automotive passion. The field was not limited to local talent from Cebu, Negros, Cagayan, Manila, and Davao. It also boasted an international roster with participating teams hailing from Japan, South Africa, and Europe. This blend of local and global competitors elevated the rally's prestige and competitive spirit.
Finishing a close second as first runners-up were the pair of Anthony Ramos and Lance Ledesma. They piloted their elegant 1970 Mercedes Benz 280 SL through the grueling course. Meanwhile, the team of Julian “Coco” Garcia and Iñaki Araneta claimed the second runner-up spot, skillfully navigating the route in their Porsche 911 SC.
Organizing a Premier Motoring Event
The successful execution of Tour de Cebu 2025 was a collaborative effort. The rally was organized by the PACE of Cebu and the Manila Sports Car Club (MSCC), with event management handled by Tradeshow International. Their combined expertise ensured the event ran smoothly, celebrating the rich heritage of classic sports cars and the vibrant community that keeps them running.
The event highlights not just a race, but a moving museum and a testament to engineering legacy. It brings together a dedicated community, boosts local tourism along the route, and puts the Philippines firmly on the map for international historic motoring events.
