In a thrilling display of skill and endurance, the dynamic duo of Frank Vicoy and Nico Ornopia emerged as the grand champions of the Tour de Cebu 2025. The pair secured their victory behind the wheel of a meticulously maintained 1972 Porsche 914, conquering a challenging three-day route that spanned approximately 1,000 kilometers across the scenic landscapes of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental.
A Nail-Biting Finish to a Historic Rally
The competition reached a fever pitch as Vicoy and Ornopia sealed their overall championship win by a razor-thin margin of just a few points. Their triumph was cemented by a powerful performance in the final leg of the rally, demonstrating remarkable consistency and driving prowess. Adding to their accolades, the champions also received the prestigious Performance and Classics Enthusiasts (Pace) Chairman Class Award, a testament to their dominant run throughout the entire event.
Global Field Competes on Negros Terrain
This year's Tour de Cebu attracted a vibrant and diverse array of participants, highlighting the event's growing international appeal. Teams hailed from various Philippine regions including Cebu, Negros, Cagayan, Manila, and Davao. The rally's global stature was further amplified by the presence of international crews from Japan, South Africa, and Europe, all contributing to a spirited celebration of heritage motoring.
The battle for the podium was intensely competitive. Claiming the first runner-up position were Anthony Ramos and Lance Ledesma, who piloted a classic 1970 Mercedes Benz 280 SL. Not far behind, the duo of Julian “Coco” Garcia and Iñaki Araneta drove their Porsche 911 SC to a strong second runner-up finish.
A Premier Celebration of Automotive Heritage
Organized through a collaboration between Pace of Cebu and the Manila Sports Car Club (MSCC), and expertly managed by Tradeshow International, the 2025 Tour de Cebu once again proved why it is the Philippines' premier historic car rally. The event masterfully showcased the stunning and varied driving routes of Negros, from breathtaking coastal roads to serene countryside paths and exhilarating highland passes.
Beyond the competition, the rally served its core mission of strengthening the bonds within the vintage car community. It was a spectacular convergence of endurance, elegance, and camaraderie, faithfully upholding the tradition that has defined the Tour de Cebu since its beginning.
