Tragic Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of Construction Worker in Daanbantayan
A young construction worker lost his life in a devastating motorcycle accident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, February 1, 2026. The incident took place on the national highway in Sitio Malaumon, Barangay Tinubdan, within Daanbantayan City, Cebu.
Details of the Fatal Crash
The victim has been identified as Reymark Mondares Maluya, a 26-year-old resident of Barangay Talisay in Daanbantayan. According to police reports, Maluya was riding his motorcycle from Duros Compound in Medellin City when the accident happened at approximately 12:30 AM.
Witnesses at the scene reported that Maluya was traveling at a high speed. In an attempt to avoid a parked vehicle on the roadside, he lost control of his motorcycle. The road was notably slippery at the time due to recent rainfall, which contributed to the vehicle sliding.
Immediate Aftermath and Hospital Response
As a result of the crash, Maluya was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered a severe impact to his head upon hitting the cement pavement. He was rushed to the Daanbantayan District Hospital for emergency medical attention.
Unfortunately, medical personnel at the hospital declared him dead on arrival (DOA). The primary cause of death was attributed to the extensive and critical injuries sustained to his head during the accident.
