Davao City Encourages Family Planning with Free Vasectomy Services

The Davao City Health Office (CHO) is actively encouraging Dabawenyos who have decided against having more children to take advantage of its Free No-Scalpel Vasectomy (NSV) service. The Population Division has announced specific dates for the procedure this November and is urging interested individuals to reserve their slots promptly.

Understanding the No-Scalpel Vasectomy Procedure

NSV is a permanent family planning method offered to residents. This modern procedure is non-invasive and is typically completed in just 10 to 15 minutes. A significant advantage is the minimal aftercare it requires, allowing for a quicker recovery. When compared to female sterilization methods like Bilateral Tubal Ligation (BTL), the NSV poses fewer risks. Its effectiveness rate is remarkably high, standing at 99.85 percent.

Expanding Access and Program Schedule

Davao City's commitment to this service is long-standing, having offered free NSV services since 2008. Public acceptance has grown steadily over the years. As of September 2025, the city has recorded over 200 NSV acceptors. To improve accessibility, the Population Division began conducting the procedures twice a month at the Buhangin Vasectomy Center starting in July 2025. The upcoming schedules are set for November 14 and November 28, 2025. However, residents should note that there will be no free NSV services in December 2025, as the office will conduct its Program Implementation Review and Evaluation. The program is scheduled to resume in January 2026.

For those interested in availing of the service or seeking more information, the City Population Division has provided several contact points. Dabawenyos can visit their Official Facebook Page, send an email to citypopulationofficeofdavao@gmail.com, or call and text 0995 202 4680 to reserve a slot or ask questions.
