PBBM assures mental health support for Mindanao quake students

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has assured that the government is not only providing immediate aid but also mental health support for students affected by the strong earthquake in parts of Mindanao, including Sarangani and General Santos City.

President emphasizes emotional and psychological response

The President highlighted the importance of addressing the emotional and psychological impact of the disaster on students, especially children who may be silently experiencing trauma from the earthquake. He stated that the Department of Health (DOH) has programs to help students cope with their experiences and recover from the emotional effects of the calamity.

Teachers and staff urged to monitor students

President Marcos also urged teachers and school personnel to closely monitor students who may be showing signs of emotional distress, as not all children openly express what they are going through. To further strengthen support mechanisms in schools, the President said that teachers will undergo special training to identify and assist students experiencing trauma and severe stress.
