Papa Joe Advises Mother Seeking to Reunite with Children
Papa Joe: Mother Can Visit Kids But Risks Legal Trouble

Dear Papa Joe,

I am Marian, 30 years old, married with two children. My husband seems to have no dreams; he just stays home and plays on his cellphone. We fought, and he kicked me out. I left, leaving the children behind because I have no parents to return to, as I come from a broken family. I became a maid. For three years, I never saw them. Now, as a human, I couldn't avoid it—I got into a relationship and now live with someone, and I have a child with him. My husband found out, so I avoid showing myself even more. Now I want to visit my children. How do I do it? Advise me.

Papa Joe's Response

Marian, if you want to, you certainly can, because you are the mother of those children. But you should know that you could fall into a pit that could send you to prison if your husband sues you, because there is evidence: you gave birth to another man's child. The only exception is if your husband accepts that you no longer have relations, but you just can't marry your respective partners if he also has someone. Maybe you can meet at the barangay so that the two of you can come to an agreement. Just think about the welfare of your children.
