Badian Teen's Tragic Suicide on Valentine's Day Linked to Heartbreak
Instead of joy on Valentine's Day, sorrow struck Badian City after a 17-year-old boy was discovered lifeless on the morning of Saturday, February 14, 2026. The victim, identified by the alias "Dave," was a Grade 11 student residing in Purok 3, Barangay Malhiao within the city.
Discovery of the Body
The body of alias Dave was found at 7:00 a.m. by a neighbor named Junior Cagang, who was gathering grass for his cow. Cagang was shocked to encounter the victim already hanging from a mahogany tree trunk, using a hose tied to a branch approximately 12 feet high.
Police Investigation and Family Insights
According to Police Master Sgt. Jupiter L. Elarcosa, an investigator at the Badian Police Station, inquiries with the victim's mother revealed that her son had been harboring deep sorrow. It was reported that alias Dave became severely depressed after being broken up with by his girlfriend in November 2025.
Due to this depression, he even stopped attending school last year. The family stated that the victim continuously hoped to reconcile with his classmate girlfriend by Valentine's Day, but this hope failed as the girl no longer paid attention to him.
Personal Characteristics and Circumstances
The victim was described as quiet and frequently playing computer games at home. Because of his reserved nature, no one was able to counsel him about the emotional pain he was experiencing.
"He was truly very sad, internalizing the hurt. He likely still hoped they would get back together this Valentine's, but she completely ignored him. That's why he left on Friday night and went directly to the mahogany tree," said PMSG Elarcosa.
The location where the body was found was only about 30 meters away from their family home. Police confirmed that no foul play was detected in the incident.
